Partner Organizations

Asociación Bendición de Dios

Asociación Bendición de Dios is a nondenominational, nonprofit school and community development organization in San Juan Alotenango, Guatemala. The school, Bendición de Dios, educates 500 pre-K through grade 6 children at a nominal fee to families. In Guatemala, students have to pay to attend public schools. Most families live below the poverty line and cannot afford the school fees. In the past few years, 7th and 8th grade programming has been added.  Bendición de Dios is able to provide this support on a budget of only $250,000 per year. More recently, Bendicion has added new vocational classrooms: a large kitchen, a sewing room; and, a workshop for metalworking and repairs is currently under construction. Julio obtained backing from a Canadian non-profit to help fund this expansion.

Under the Same Moon has become the school's largest supporter, contributing about thirty percent of the school's annual budget.

Guatemalan Ministry of Education

Bendición de Dios is now officially recognized by the Guatemalan Ministry of Education as an accredited independent pre-primary through grade eight school.

With the help of Under The Same Moon and other partners, Asociación Bendición de Dios has been able to expand its mission and has become an educational, social, and economic resources for children and the whole village of San Juan Alotenango.
